When Do We Collect Information?

We collect information from you when you send us a request for information, sign up to receive email newsletters from us, submit comments regarding content on our website or when you enter a sweepstakes or contest sponsored by us.

We collect the information we need to fulfill your request, send you newsletters by email, follow up with you about comment you have posted or to enter you in a contest or sweepstakes sponsored by us. Generally such information may include your name, email address, mailing address or phone number.

How is Your Information Used?

The information you provide us is used by us to fulfill your information request, send you newsletters by email, follow up with you about comments you may have posted and/or to notify contest and sweepstakes winners and award prizes. The National Peanut Board does not disclose to third parties information that users provide, except:

  • to third parties who may be engaged by us specifically to handle and deliver certain online activities (e.g., conducting contests and sweepstakes). Such third parties have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes; or
  • to third parties in order to comply with law or requests by law enforcement agencies, to enforce our Terms and Conditions or to protect the rights, property or safety of our web site, users of our web site and others.

Cookies and Log Data

We may use cookies to determine the number of unique visitors to our website over a given period. We will not store any personal information into cookies nor will we link or combine information collected through cookies to any personal information that users submit online. Log data may be collected on web servers both within the National Peanut Board’s control and under the control of the National Peanut Board’s third-party service provider, who is required to maintain such data on a confidential basis, and may supply the National Peanut Board with aggregate information about the number of visits to different pages on our site. We do not link the log data collected to the personal information that users submit online when participating in our activities.

Opt Out

If you no longer wish to receive a newsletter or other communication from us, you may opt-out of receiving it by following the instructions included in the newsletter or communication or by emailing us at peanuts@nationalpeanutboard.org.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) Compliance

The website is not targeted to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information online from children under the age of 13. If we learn that a child under the age of 13 has submitted such information to us, we will delete such information and we will not use such information for any purpose (except where necessary to protect the safety of the child or others as required by law). If you believe we have collected information from your child under the age of 13, please contact us at peanuts@nationalpeanutboard.org so that we may delete such information.
